Quayle Estate
Oakland, CA 94619 ![]() (510) 533-3719 ![]() By Gregg L. from Sausalito,, CA Posted Feb 12, 2011 The Quayle Estate is a perfect example of why you can't judge a book by its cover. On the surface, the place is a wonderfully restored Dutch colonial home - one of the best examples I've ever seen. The problem rests with the owner who initially was gracious, but then became violent during my stay and seems very emotionally erratic in a frightening way (I have read other people's reviews on the web and this seems to be what practically everyone experiences. I've talked to other guests who feel similarly). He went into my room constantly when I was away. Things went missing. He left voice messages and sent email messages to me that were all too inappropriate for a guest at an Inn. He seems to have very poor boundaries with others. During my last week there, he told me he has a marijuana grow room on the premises, for which anyone staying there can be implicated. This concerned me deeply. A few days later, when he became violent, I had to call the police and then leave for that reason. He never returned my unused payment, nor my deposit (Over $700). When I asked for it back, he said, yelling, "No, I'm NOT going to do it!" I have all of this saved, so if anyone wants to hear/see/read it, please feel free to contact me. Needless to say, the man running this place is dishonest and difficult. It's not good to stay here if you value your peace or privacy. I've reported this man to all appropriate authorities because he shouldn't be allowed to stay in business to do this to people. It's completely inappropriate.
